Quote of the Day: Statistics vs. Judgment

Statistics are no substitute for judgment.

Henry Clay, 1777-1852, US attorney, Congressman (first and only freshman to be chosen Speaker of the House upon swearing-in), Senator, Secretary of State, and presidential candidate.  Clay was highly influential in US economic policy, the debate over slavery, and he was the first person to lie in state in the United States Capitol.

Clay introduced the Hereford livestock breed to the United States, and is credited with introducing the mint julep drink to Washington, D.C.
