The New York Times reported Sunday that the pioneering relationship between Microsoft and NBC known as MSNBC.com is coming to an end.
The Times article does a good job of explaining the reasons, even though the reasons don’t really make much sense to me.
It is ironic, though, that so many media outlets followed MSNBC down this path as the way to the business model of the future, some very recently.
It was only 18 months ago that our own Arizona Republic merged online portal AZCentral.com with KPNX Channel 12 News:

Given the decline of Republic mothership Gannett and the decline of the Republic itself, I wonder how the merger of the news teams and facilities has affected the bottom line.

Darn, I missed the Grand Opening of the 12 Studio. Had I only known. Maybe they will move to Glendale.
