One of the most architecturally-redeeming shopping malls in Scottsdale is about to fall to the wrecking ball.
As reported in numerous publications, Scottsdale’s Borgata (“patterned after the Tuscan Village of San Gimignano, Italy – complete with cobblestone walkways, fountains and an open-air setting”) just south of Lincoln on Scottsdale Road has been purchased by AV Homes. It is slated to become condos. This, of course, is going to further depress struggling home values in Scottsdale, and at some point will lead to calls for–ironically–more retail!
The rezoning case will be heard by the Scottsdale City Council soon. Meanwhile, if you like the Borgata (or if you just want to keep your home’s value up), visit the website dedicated to saving it:
From the Coalition of Greater Scottsdale:
Borgata residential case will be heard at the Planning Commission this Wednesday, June 26 beginning at 5 pm in the Kiva (city hall). Be sure to arrive before this agenda item begins to fill out a Comment or Speaker card if you want to be actively involved in the discussion. You can send comments to planningcommission@scottsdaleaz.gov
