Intrinsic Motivation and Ethics

In a blog post on FacileThings.com, CEO Francisco Sáez (@franciscojsaez) writes,

When intrinsic motivation is replaced by a reward, creativity can be crushed. Moreover, in these situations, rewards may encourage people to seek cheating, shortcuts and unethical behavior.

I wonder if an examination of the motivation (whether intrinsic or not) would be instructive as to some of our political problems in Scottsdale…as well as Arizona!

Perhaps I can get Scottsdale Leadership to incorporate this into their “Civil Dialog” initiative?
