A number of “us” have often remarked that for the last few years Scottsdale City Council meetings are nothing more than Kabuki theater.
They can be good entertainment if you know the players and have a handy supply of espresso (or tequila if you are watching from home). The performances (both individual and the whole production) are unpredictable in length. But, fear no more…you can get the same entertainment in a more convenient venue.
An astute ScottsdaleTrails reader pointed me to the “Things to Do” section of yesterday’s Republic, in which Kerry Lengel [@kerrylengel] previews the production of Aaron Landsman’s “City Council Meeting” at ASU Gammage this Saturday.
Sounds like fun. It’s too bad that cultural arts genius Bill Banchs didn’t grab this one for the Scottsdale Center for Performing Arts. However, SCPA may be too close to the Scottsdale City Hall Kiva. We might have some (even more) confused citizens who might not be able to tell that art is merely imitating real life.
As Bob Littlefield often says, “You just can’t make this stuff up.” Unlike the Scottsdale Cultural Council budget.
