In conjunction with 100 Years-100 Ranches SCA exhibit at the Scottsdale Civic Center Library, well-known McDowell Mountain regional historian, Len Marcisz will give a presentation entitled, “Ranching In the McDowells: Dogies and Desperation in the Desert Foothills,” Wednesday evening, January 16, 2013.
From the program description: Cattle ranching was prevalent in the old west of Scottsdale. Len will tell the history of the E.O. Brown ranch and others in the area; stories of the ranch men and women, their triumphs and hardships, cattle drives down Pima Road, land swindles, secret aerial surveillance and yes, goat manipulation will be covered in this Arizona centennial glance at our local mountain range.
