Fireworks and Freedom

I chose this photo from last Saturday’s Scuderia SW cars and coffee in Scotttsdale to illustrate that most folks don’t understand that we can celebrate independence only because those who went before us were willing to fight for it, and to provide a credible deterrent to those who want to take it away.

Fireworks are beautiful, but what they represent–armed conflict in defense of freedom and independence, and/or the threat thereof–are much more powerful concepts.

So Independence Day should also be a rememberance and celebration of our veterans and service members on-duty, and the sacrifices of their families.
