Ofelia Madrid recently posted a great AZCentral article about how a clever idea was recently implemented to geo-locate trail markers in order to better facilitate delivering aid to and/or rescuing trail users in the McDowell Sonoran Preserve. I never thought about it, but it would otherwise be difficult to tell first responders your location!

After all, with 17,000 acres in the Preserve, dozens of miles of trails, and no street signs or addresses, how else would you call for help?

There’s also a great list of trail heads at the end of the article.
